Developmental Edits

Developmental editing addresses the "big picture" of the manuscript. It focuses on whether the argument or story is clear, checks for gaps or inconsistencies, and identifies unnecessary content that should be removed.

Copy Editing

Copyediting is more focused on the technical aspects, ensuring correct grammar, sentence clarity, and adherence to the style guide. This is usually done when the document is in its final draft, nearing completion.

Proofreading

Proofreading is the last step before publication. At this stage, no major changes are made; the proofreader simply checks for any remaining errors.
